A low key
start to the season with a small event at the Royal Artillery Museum in
Woolwich. Once we had had tea and scones in the museum Cafe we set up
an Aid for Spain stall amid the Medium artillery...

We discovered
and spent lots of money playing on the machine gun target range, much
to the annoyance of all the little children who wanted a go!

Comrade Biddlecombe
was not going to let a small child put him off his practice!

It's very addictive

We spoke to
the few visitors there were and then retired to our humble lodgings -
The Artillery Academy building, renamed 'Lenin House' for the duration.

Nicholas Hawksmoor
clearly designed the Academy with reenactors in mind. Two huge rooms with
portraits of class enemies and informative placards. We choose the wooden
floored and heated one to dine, on a huge table, with napkins and candles
and such. Digger and Jan produced a fine beef stew, which was just the
job.
Andy Brockman,
the organiser, turned up with beer, wine and good wishes.
The next day
was much the same, a few more punters...all in all a nice gentle start
to the year.
